I’m afraid of heights. Always have been.
This year, for my 57th birthday, my sister (who is 68) and I stood at the top of the high dive… and jumped.
It was the first time in my life I had ever done that. Not because the fear disappeared, but because I finally decided to face it anyway.
Something shifts when you stop waiting for courage to show up and just move while you’re still scared. That single jump didn’t erase my fear of heights—but it reminded me that fear doesn’t get the final say.
At this stage of life, it’s easy to stay in the safe, familiar places. But growth doesn’t live there. Joy doesn’t either.
So here’s my gentle challenge to anyone else in the 50+ chapter:
What’s the thing you’ve been avoiding because it scares you?
The conversation. The class. The trip. The high dive.
Do it anyway.
Your future self will thank you.
What’s one thing you’ve done (or want to do) that once felt impossible? I’d love to hear in the comments (and take the time to join our email list!)
With a gentle and loving nudge,
