Was This a Typical Day? A Fabulous Slice of My Life at 50

Oh, today was so my kind of typical—equal parts routine, heart, and just enough chaos to keep it real. At 50 and fabulous, I’ve ditched the alarm clock because, let’s be honest, startling myself awake is not the vibe. I woke up when my body said, “Alright, let’s do this,” and kicked off the with my daily exercise routine followed up with my sacred shower ritual. Hair, makeup, outfit—check, check, check. I’m out here looking like I’ve got it together, even if my brain’s still half-asleep.

Post-shower, I tackled the bathroom (sparkle mode: activated), savored one perfect cup of coffee (because moderation is my superpower), and folded last night’s laundry while tossing in a fresh load. Multitasking? It’s my cardio. Then it was time for the real MVPs—my dogs. I let them out, filled their bowls with food and fresh water, and gave the lawn and my plants some love. Nothing says “typical” like juggling fur babies and a flourishing lawn before 9 a.m., right?

Work called, and I dove in by charting my last four patient visits. Paperwork isn’t glamorous, but it’s part of the gig. Then I hit the road to see my patients—one in a home, four in a memory care unit at an assisted living facility. Wound care is tough; I feel every wince and know the pain I’m inflicting. But those moments when a patient shares a story or flashes a small smile? That’s the magic that fuels me. It’s why I love what I do.

On the way home, I swung by the store for a quick grab—because who doesn’t need one more thing? Back at the house, I cuddled up on the couch with my daughter for some quality TV time, reheated leftover soup (dinner of champions), and made a spontaneous Home Depot run for light bulbs. Adulting, check. The evening wrapped with cleaning up a dog kennel mishap (thanks, pup), washing dishes, charting today’s visits, and carving out time for this blog—because sharing my fabulous chaos with you all is my therapy.

So, was this a typical day? Absolutely. It’s the beautiful mess of routines I love—coffee, dogs, patients, and family moments—sprinkled with those “yup, that’s life” surprises like emergency light bulb runs. At 50, I’ve learned typical doesn’t mean dull; it’s the rhythm of a life I’ve built, with room for love, laughter, and the occasional dog accident. What’s your typical day look like? Spill the tea in the comments—I’m all ears!
